The UNSW and ACOSS Poverty and Inequality Partnership (the Partnership) was proud to contribute to the annual UNSW Founders, Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Challenge event 2024, focused on solving global challenges like sustainable urban development and social equity.

TEDI-London: 2024 Winter School students working on real-world challenges

Four teams of curious and creative UNSW students returned recently from the TEDI-London . Their time at TEDI-London culminated with a showcase day, which gave each team the opportunity to present their ideas and prototypes for the processing of urban timber to their peers, industry partners and TEDI-London staff and students.

TEDI-London hosted their first in person summer school since the pandemic started. 20 UNSW students from six faculties and UNSW’s Prof Stephen Loo flew to the UK to participate in the TEDI-London Summer School 2022 - a cross-cultural and multidisciplinary learning experience to explore the potential of urban farming to foster resilient cities.

Transforming Women’s Leadership Pathways

Women are still in the minority amongst CEOs, professors and political leaders – to address this the PLuS Alliance between ASU, King’s College London, and UNSW Sydney started the Transforming Women’s Leadership Pathways (TWLP) initiative, including a Knowledge Hub of resources on Leadership Training, research opportunities and more.

“There’s a lot going on at Sydney in terms of quantum. There’s four universities, small tech startups and big industry players… so it’s really fun, because it feels like you’re part of a bigger team all working towards a big goal” Wyatt Vine on completing his PhD at UNSW as a Sydney Quantum Academy Scholarship Recipient.
