The 36th Australasian Finance and Banking Conference (AFBC) is organised by the Institute of Global Finance and the School of Banking and Finance, UNSW Business School. The Conference will be held on 13th –15th December 2023. 

The AFBC is the most significant and prestigious finance conference in the Asia-Pacific region. It brings together the world's foremost leaders of thought from the financial community, providing international academics and industry professionals with the opportunity to meet and share their research and interest in finance-related fields. The Conference Committee would like to invite all academics and practitioners to participate.

When and where

  • When: Wednesday 13th to Friday 15th December 2023. The PhD Forum will be held on Tuesday 12th December 2023.

PhD Forum

When: Tuesday, 12th December 2023

The 36th AFBC will include a PhD Forum for advanced Finance Doctoral Students who are currently working on their dissertation.

The one-day forum will offer accepted students the unique opportunity to present their dissertation proposals and have their work discussed by distinguished academics from top business schools in the US, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Throughout the seminar, students will receive valuable advice about career development from leading scholars and will discuss recent developments in finance literature with fellow students and faculty members.

Inaugural Education Excellence Showcase

The inaugural AFBC Education Excellence showcase is set to launch at the 36th Australasian Finance and Banking Conference 2023. It is designed to acknowledge world-class educators in cutting-edge teaching practices and to promote knowledge exchange to better nurture next generation leaders in finance.

Submissions will close on the 1st of October.

Awarded for Bureau van Dijk Prizes

Awarded for the best paper in Banking.

Awarded for the best paper in Corporate Finance / Corporate Governance / Institutional Block Holders.

Australian Securities Exchange Prize

AUS$1,000 will be awarded for the best paper presented on Derivatives / Quantitative Finance.

CFA Institute Prize

US$1,000 Awarded to the best paper in Banking / Finance / Investment Management in Asia-Pacific markets.
