Dr Chrissy Burns joined as UNSW Sydney’s Chief Information Officer in 2022 to drive its technology strategy so it enables the innovative ambitions of the students and staff of the university.Â
UNSW is committed to investing to deliver digital agility and innovation in support of our brand and strategy and Chrissy is leading a program of technology transformation works to enable this. That includes establishing sound digital foundations in cyber, integration, automation, data and of course cloud.
Chrissy is a seasoned C-suite executive with a proven ability to set strategy, lead performance, cultivate culture, deliver transformation, and drive digital innovation in complex and highly regulated organisations.
Chrissy knows higher education and she knows technology. Prior to joining UNSW, Chrissy spent over ten years in the higher education sector and has been actively involved in a range of whole of sector technology initiatives.  Chrissy is currently on the Board of AARNet – Australia’s national research and education network.
Chrissy is also a UNSW alumnus, having completed her PhD in 2008 and later studied organisational change through the Australian Graduate School of Management.Â
Chrissy has the strategic vision and deep understanding of the technology operations needed to underpin UNSW’s world-class education and research. Chrissy is deeply committed to working collaboratively to do that and considers herself fortunate to work alongside such a talented team to do so.
